Magic Elevator

There was a magic elevator that could take you anywhere in the world. Five kids discovered it and went a bunch of places. In Germany, a flood was coming, so they ran back to the elevator, but the repair men were working on it. They got in and tried to press the buttons but it wouldn't move. They kept freaking out as the water seepes in through the doors, slowly rising, until they all drowned. But i don't think i saw that part. I think after that either I was a writer or a writer's wife and saying how terrible it was for them all to drown. Pretty sure Edgar Allan Poe was also involved in this dream somehow. Probably the author of the story.
